North Sea was designed by Rose de Borman, a London based mostly artist who travels all round the world to gather antique fabrics and who's renowned for her loose painterly style. The inspiration came from C19th engravings of the sea near Hastings as well as the Van Gogh sepia drawings of the ocean I noticed at the Royal Academy. The name is inspired by the North Sea on the North East coast of Scotland where I spend plenty of time. The colour-ways I have created replicate the means in which the sunshine falls across the ocean over the span of a day.
